ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING
We perform stormwater monitoring by sampling and testing water quality in order to identify sources of pollutant in the drainage systems, which eventually taint our beautiful ocean. After identifying the pollutant sources, we design appropriate control infrastructure known as Best Management Practices (BMP).
LIFE CYCLE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
We follow the ISO 14044 standard for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to assess the sustainability of water systems. LCA is a concept first introduced by chemical/environmental engineers, and has been widely used for electronic devices but it is relatively new in water resources management. LCA assess all life cycle environmental impacts from raw material extraction to end of life. Using this method and optimization techniques, Hassan is able to design infrastructure that have the minimal life cycle impacts. See "Parallel Processing & Visualization" page for examples.
